"Teaching, Conduct, Purpose..."

“Teaching, Conduct, Purpose…”

Blessings folk!

Do we live according to the Word?
Can we say to another, “live as I live?”
Can we specifically delineate the areas?
Paul could...and did.
So should we.

2 Timothy 3:10-12
10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Timothy followed Paul’s teaching, conduct, purpose.

Teaching: didaskalia

  • instruction
  • precepts
  • doctrine

Conduct: agōgē
  • leading
  • course of life
  • life led

Purpose: prothesis
  • setting forth of a thing
  • placing of it in view
  • the shewbread in temple...an example

Paul told Timothy, and us, that he not only taught the Word, but that he lived in a manner that provided an example.

His course of life…
His leading…
His life provided a clear view of the life of holiness...the life of the Kingdom.

It was in plain view.
All could see.

What do all see when looking at our lives?
What does the Lord see?
