“An Everlasting Covenant”

Blessings folk!

The last words of David continue to declare the wonder and glory of God…

2 Sa 23:5-7

“Truly is not my house so with God?
For He has made an everlasting covenant with me,
Ordered in all things, and secured;
For all my salvation and all my desire,
Will He not indeed make it grow?

“But the worthless, every one of them will be thrust away like thorns,
Because they cannot be taken in hand;

But the man who touches them
Must be armed with iron and the shaft of a spear,
And they will be completely burned with fire in their place.”

God had granted David his “house”.
The Lord had made an everlasting covenant with him.
Ordered in all things.
Secure
For David’s salvation.
For David’s desires.
The Lord will cause it to grow.

We as believers have the same in the Lord.
The new covenant of salvation is an everlasting covenant.
It is ordered in the Lord.
It is secure to true believers.
It is for our salvation and desires. The Lord will cause it to grow.

The worthless?
They will be thrust away like thorns.
Everyone of them.
They must be handled properly, so that harm will not come.
Yet, they will be completely burned with fire in their place.

The Lord will deal with the wicked.
He did so for David.
He will do so for us.
