“Weary and Lose Heart”

Blessings folk!

Again, we…
  • are to lay aside every encumbrance
  • are to lay aside the sin which so easily entangles us
  • are to run with endurance the race set before us
  • are to fix our eyes on Jesus

Jesus…
  • is the author of our faith
  • is the perfecter (completer) of our faith
  • endured the cross
  • despised the shame
  • sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Heb 12:1-2

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us,
let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us,
and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

fixing our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter of faith,
who for the joy set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame,
and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Now, why are we to fix our eyes on Jesus?
Fix when?
Related to what?
Purpose?

The next verse tells us…

Heb 12:3

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself,
so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

We are to consider what Jesus endured.
We are to consider what sinners did to Him.
Why?
So that we might grow weary and lose heart.

Are you weary?
Are you tired?
Have you lost heart?

Consider what the Lord did for us.
Our situation pales in comparison.

Be as Jesus was…for the joy set before Him He endured the cross.
For the joy set before us, may we preserve and press on.
