“Counseled Rebellion”

“Counseled Rebellion”

Blessings folk!

We saw yesterday what the Lord said about someone who prophesies/advices the seeking of/worship of other gods.

The Lord continues.

Read carefully.
Important principles for today.

Deu 13:5-11

“But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from among you.

“If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods’ (whom neither you nor your fathers have known,

of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you,
from one end of the earth to the other end),

you shall not yield to him or listen to him;
and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.

“But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

“So you shall stone him to death because he has sought to seduce you from the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

“Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such a wicked thing among you.

The prophet or dreamer was to be put to death.
Why?
Because he counseled rebellion against the Lord.
Because he seduced them from the way of the Lord.
Because he led them in evil.

The Lord had delivered the people from Egypt.
The Lord had redeemed them from slavery.

They were to now remember and put such evil from themselves.

If anyone, even family members, enticed them secretly to follow the other gods, then such a person was to be killed.

Remember, the gods are real.
They are not myth.
They are not fiction.
They are not symbolic.
They are real.

The people of the Lord were not to serve them.
Those who advise to do so were to be killed…stoned.

Why such a permanent punishment?
Because…

  • They were to purge evil
  • All Israel would hear and be afraid
  • All Israel would be persuaded to never do such wickedness

What does this have to do with us…true believers?

We endure too much evil among those professing to be of the Body of Christ, yet they are frauds.
They are not saved.
They are not of the Lord.
They lead many away from the the Most High to other gods.

Such is rampant in our society.

We must address it.

We are not to seek the permanent solution.
We are to seek their salvation.
We are not to allow them in leadership positions of the organized church.
We need to purge the evil.
