“Impostors”

Blessings folk!

Again, a profound truth that needs to be repeated and understood.
Those who desire to be godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

2 Timothy 3:12-13
12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

The pursuit of a life of holiness will be resisted.
Persecution is promised.
This persecution may range from the simplest resistance of a “smart comment” to persecution unto death.

Again, if you desire to be godly in Christ Jesus you will be persecuted.

“But”...there is that word again.

Evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse.

What kind of evil?

I believe we gain insight in the sentence.

Impostors - goēs

  • wailer
  • a howler
  • juggler
  • enchanter
  • deceiver

Wow.
Impostors are those who claim/profess on thing and yet live/manifest another.
How many have I heard that “howl, wail” the gospel message, yet they are deceivers when their lives are manifest.

I believe these impostors will be a source of persecution to true believers.

Do we act/react as the world?
Then we are impostors.

These evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse.
Such is today.

Another hint is the last wording.
They deceive.
They are being deceived.
They are in a position that allows for deceiving...some form of leadership, teaching, etc.

Do not be one of them.
Repent.
Confess.
Manifest the life of faith and trust.
