“Faith: Received Not…”

“Faith: Received Not…”

Blessings folk!!

Now, let us look at the closing verses of the great “gallery of faith” in Hebrews 11.

We have seen much about those of faith.
How they lived.
What happened to them.

The bottom line is this - the life of faith modeled/taught in the Word is starkly different from that proclaimed/projected in “the contemporary church”.

As Jesus said…

Luk 18:8
I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly.
However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth
?”

Will there be true faith found when the Lord returns?
Yes.
Will it be common?
No.

Why?
Because “the church” today has a wrong concept of faith.
We think we should get instant feedback and benefit from faith.

From one perspective we do - we are declared righteous, we are saved.

But most folks faith declines if they “do not get what they want now!”

What of those in Hebrews 11?

Heb 11:39-40
And all these, having gained approval through their faith,
did not receive what was promised,

because God had provided something better for us,
so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.

They gained approval by faith.
Yet they did not receive what was promised.
It was to come…in the future…after their corporeal existence.

Why?
Because God provided something better for us.

They, the faithful of Hebrews 11, would not be “perfect” - complete - without us!

We rarely have that view.

What if we are to live in faith…receive not the promise in this life…but know that it is for generations many hundreds of years down the road?

It changes our perspective.

Live by faith.
Live in faith.
