“Discipline and Faith”

Blessings folk!

We saw yesterday that we are to exercise self-control in all things.
All things.
Physical.
Spiritual.
Self-control.
Impossible in the flesh.
Possible in the Spirit.
Self controlled by the Spirit.

1Co 9:23-27
I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
Everyone who competes in the games
exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;
but I
discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

We “box not at the air”.
We allow the Spirit to control.

But, what of the constant barrage of thoughts, temptations?

Eph 6:16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

The enemy and wicked will fire off fiery darts.
We can quench them.
We are able.
We do so by faith...the shield of faith.

As True Believers, the faith that we have from the Lord does battle for us.
Appropriate it.
Live in faith.
