“The Water Prevailed”
Blessings folk! Hear the Word of the Lord related to the Flood...
Gen 7:18-24
The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.
The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered.
The water prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered.
All flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind;
of all that was on the dry land, all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died.
Thus He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark.
The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days.
Note some things. The water prevailed upon the earth. The Ark floated. The water covered the entire earth, not just a portion (as is often taught). The Flood was a “universal” flood - covered the entire earth. The Word says so...
- upon the earth - high mountains everywhere were covered - all flesh that was on the dry land and that moved on the earth died, all that had the breath of the spirit of life - the Lord blotted out every living thing upon the face of the land...from the earth
It is clear that the Flood covered the entire planet. That explains much.
For example, some folk look at the Grand Canyon and seek to extrapolate the length of time it would take the Colorado river to “cut” the canyon out. They are making the mistake of which Peter warned - uniformitarianism.
2Pe 3:3-6
Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,
and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” (uniformitarianism)
For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,
through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.
Mockers, Scholars, the Religious...but, I repeat myself...will deny the universal nature of the Flood. They will deny any Flood.
The Word is clear. I look at the Grand Canyon and think “looks like the wash from a big flood”...
Which will you believe? Man and his Wisdom? The Lord and His Word?
