“No One Is To Deceive You”

Blessings folk!

We must read the Word carefully with the empowerment of the Spirit.
This portion of the Word requires close, slow attention.

Remember what we read yesterday…

2 Th 2:1-2
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters,
regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,

that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

The Lord is returning.
We will be gathered to Him.
Do not be shaken/disturbed nor believe the various unbiblical things about the Day of the Lord.

Now…

2 Th 2:3-4
No one is to deceive you in any way!
For
it will not come unless the apostasy comes first,
and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship,
so that he takes his seat in the temple of God,
displaying himself as being God.

The “it will not come” is not found in the Greek.
The phrase is provided to help in our language.

So, what is the “it”?
The context from the previous verse reveals that the “it” is the Day of the Lord!

Certain things must occur before the Day of the Lord.
The Word is clear about this.

What are these things?

  1. Apostasy
  2. Revealing of the man of lawlessness, the san of destruction

Neither had occurred during the days of the Thessalonians.
Neither has occurred yet…
