For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.

They knew this.
He had told them when he was with them.

Apparently this information is important.
Makes one wonder why it is rarely taught today?

While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.

Everyone will think that all is well.
Peace!
Safety!
The things for which man has striven for millennia.

It is at this time that the Day of the Lord will come.

Destruction.
Labor pains.
No escape.

Be not fooled.

Peace and safety will not come through plans and processes of man.

Peace and safety are only found in the Most High God.
All other ways are deception.
