Job 1:22
Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.

Job 2:1-6

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD.

The LORD said to Satan,
“Where have you come from?”
Then Satan answered the LORD and said,
“From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The LORD said to Satan,
“Have you considered My servant Job?
For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”

Satan answered the LORD and said,
“Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.

“However, put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh;
he will curse You to Your face.”

So the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”

We see the same gathering as earlier.
The sons of God are presenting themselves before the Lord.
The satan does likewise.

The Lord initiates the conversation.
The Lord asks the satan where he had been.
The Lord knew.
The purpose of the question?
To give the satan opportunity to tell?
To let the satan know that the Lord knows all?

Then the Lord asks…
Have you considered Job?

Of course He knew the answer.

The satan had sought to destroy Job by killing Job’s children and taking/destroying his possessions.

Yet, Job did not sin.

The satan’s response this time?

“Skin for skin…”

The satan was saying “touch his body, attack him physically…he will curse You”.

The Lord’s response?

He is in you power, only spare his life.

The satan has the power to take life…if God allows.
