“Pray On My Behalf”

Blessings folk!

Pray at all times.
Be on the alert.
Do so for the saints..

Now, read the balance of the sentence.

Eph 6:18-20

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit,
and with this in view,
be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

and pray on my behalf,
that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth,
to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

for which I am an ambassador in chains;
that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak.

Paul asked them to pray for him.

Note what his request was.

Not avoidance of prison.
Not release from prison.
Not avoidance of persecution.
Not for provision.
Etc. etc.

He wanted utterance.
Utterance from the Most High God.
Utterance that when he opened his mouth the mystery of the gospel would be proclaimed with boldness.

Paul wanted the bold Word of the Lord.

Paul was in literal chains when he wrote this, yet he chose to describe himself as an ambassador - and emissary - of the Kingdom.

He wanted to speak the mystery of the gospel…even in chains.
He wanted the boldness of the Lord.

What do we request from others as to prayer?
