“Three Times”

Blessings folk!

Jesus said…

Luke 22:31-32
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

We looked at it yesterday.
Now, looks what follows…

Luke 22:33-34
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” 34 And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”

Well, Peter is getting better.
In a previous encounter, Peter had said “Lord, no!”
If He is Lord, you cannot say “no”.
If you say “no”, He is not Lord.

Now, Peter is stating that he is ready to go both...both!..to prison and to die for the Lord.

Even though the Lord had just told him “when you turn again”...that he would turn away.

So, in a manner of speaking, he was going against the Word of the Lord. Just not as forthrightly.

Jesus is patient.

He tells Peter what would happen.
Peter would deny Him.

He told Peter when.
Before the cock crowed.

He told Peter how intense the denial would be.
Peter would deny Him three times.

We dare not rest in our abilities.
We boldly rest and trust in the Lord.

Should He forewarn, may we have eyes to see and ears to hear.
