"Beginning of the Year…"

“Beginning of the Year…”

Blessings Folk!

Exodus 12:1-2
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

A new year…

The Lord stated that this month (Nisan) in the spring would be the beginning of the year for His people. The Lord then gives detail about how they are to worship Him - The Sabbath and The Feasts of the Lord - Exodus 12, Leviticus 23.

This beginning of months was for what we call the “sacred” calendar.

The first day of the seventh month - Tishri - would become the beginning of the “civil” calendar. This is still celebrated today much like we have “new year”.

We do the same type of thing today.
January 1 is the beginning of the “calendar” year.
Many organizations have “fiscal” years that begin on different dates.

What might a “sacred” year look like?
Many portions of the Body of Christ celebrate/worship around a “sacred calendar” reflecting the birth, death, resurrection of the Lord.

Each one of us personally have our own calendar...beginning with the day that we are born.
We celebrate it.

The Lord showed the nation of Israel how to worship year round.
The Lord has shown us what to do with each new year…are we?

Pursue His Kingdom.
Pursue His Righteousness.

Matthew 6:33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
