“Three-Course Meal…”

Blessings folk!

David called upon the people to praise the Lord…

1Ch 16:8
Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

Look at what they did…

1Ch 16:1-3
And they brought in the ark of God and placed it inside the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
He distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread and a portion of meat and a raisin cake.

They brought the Ark of God into the tent David pitched (see yesterday’s discussion).

They then offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
Again, based upon what we saw yesterday, an unusual “adaptation” of Tabernacle worship…outside the Tabernacle.

After the offerings, David blessed the people.
He did so in the name of the Lord.
The name of the Lord?
Yes.
Based upon the character, the essence of Who the Lord is.

Not only did He bless them in Word.
He blessed them in physical deed.
Everyone in Israel received…
a loaf of bread
a portion of meat
a raisin cake

A three-course meal.

Is there significance to this?
I suspect so.
Likely layers of insight and interpretation.

We know this.
David provided for the needs of the people at that moment.
A blessing of provision.
This is a type and foreshadowing of what the Lord does for His people today.

Rejoice in His provision.
Worship Him…to be continued…
