“Not All Are Clean…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus told Peter that he was “bathed” (cleaned), he only needed to wash his feet…to wash away that which is collected as we walk through each day.

But then Jesus says something interesting at the end of the verse…(Isn’t everything Jesus says interesting?)

John 13:10
Jesus *said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”

Not all of them were clean.
Not all of those with Jesus at that moment…what we call the Twelve apostles.

John clarifies.

John 13:11
For He knew the one who was betraying Him; for this reason He said, “Not all of you are clean.”

Jesus knew betrayal was occurring.
Jesus knew who it was.
Jesus said this so that upon reflection, the apostles would understand that He knew all along.

John 6:64-65
“But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.

And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you,
that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.”

Jesus knew from the beginning who would believe and who would not believe.
Jesus knew from the beginning who would betray Him.
Jesus knew from the beginning that only those granted from the Father can come to Him.

This turns many believers “theology” upside down.
Many will shout man-made labels at one another over such.

Yet, the truth is simple.
The Lord knew.
The Lord knows.
Believe.
Be clean.
