“Jesus, Knowing…Washed”

Blessings folk!

Jesus knew His hour had come.
The time to complete His purpose of taking on flesh.
He loved His own…to the end.

John 13:2-5

During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon,
to betray Him,

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands,
and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God,

*got up from supper, and *laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.

Then He *poured water into the basin,
and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

A plot.
A plan.
One developed through the ages.
Was coming to fruition.

The devil had put into the heart of Judas betrayal.
Judas was in their midst.

Jesus…

  • knowing that Father had given all things into His hands
  • knowing that He had come forth from God
  • knowing He was going back to God

We forget this.
Jesus knew.
He knew before, during, after.

Judas, betrayer, sat with Jesus.
Jesus knew.

What did Jesus do?

He humbled Himself in the midst of the men.
He humbled Himself in the midst of betrayal and impending persecution…death.

He got up from supper…they were still eating.
He laid aside His garments.
He took a towel.
He girded Himself.
He poured water in a basin.
He washed the disciples feet.
He wiped their feet with the towel by which He was girded. (That is interesting&hellipWinking

Each step a picture of humility, love, compassion…passion…for them.

Is it not time that we as Believers do likewise with one another?
Live humbly.
Honor one another.
Submit to one another.
Love one another.

Jesus did it.
He empowers us to do likewise.
