“They Refused to Believe”

Blessings folk!

We are quickly reaching the end of Mark.

Note what happens…

Mar 16:9-11

Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week,
He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.

She went and reported to those who had been with Him,
while they were mourning and weeping.

When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they refused to believe it.

Check the facts the Word gives us…

  • Jesus arose early on the first day of the week - Sunday, after sunset, before sunrise.
  • After arising from the dead, Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene
  • Mary Magdalene was demon possessed when she met Jesus
  • Jesus cast seven demons out of her

The same occurs today.
People are still demon filled.
They need to be set free!
Believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to set the captive free…

Isa 61:1-2

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;

To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,

We can/should do the things that Jesus did…

John 14:12
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who be believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.

Facts continue…
- Mary reported to those who were with Him…the disciples…while they wept and mourned

  • They heard He was alive
  • They heard she had seen Him
  • They refused to believe her

Refusing to believe will quench the Spirit.

That is the reason we do not see/experience all that the Lord has for us.

Do you truly believe?
