“Permit the Children”

“Permit the Children”

Blessings folk!

We continue through Mark.

Note what the parents were doing.
Note the reaction of the disciples.

Mar 10:13-16

And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them;
but the disciples rebuked them.

But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

“Truly I say to you,
whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”

And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.

People were wanting Jesus to touch their children.
They wanted Him to lay hands on them, to bless them.

Why?

They saw “something” in Jesus.
They saw the works.
They heard the words.
They knew that Jesus was somehow of God…

The disciples’ reactions?

They rebuked the people.
They had no time for children.
I suspect they found children to be a distraction.

The same occurs today.
Had a report of a sermon this past week that purportedly stated the same…children need to be in nursery…because of the importance of what is being doing in the service.

In other words, “they bother me…distract me…and we all know that it is about me…”

Jesus was having nothing to do with it.
Did you see His reaction?
He was indignant.

He corrected the disciples, apparently in front of all.
Permit the children to come.
Do not hinder the children.
The Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
We must receive the Kingdom like a child.
Any other way is not entering into the Kingdom.

Jesus then took the children.
He blessed.
He laid hands on them.

I suspect the disciples wondered.

It is not about us.
It is not about our activities for the Lord.
It is not about our activities in the name of the Lord.

It is about the Kingdom.
Enter in as a child…
