“Moses/Aaron: Separate Yourselves!”

“Moses/Aaron: Separate Yourselves!”

Blessings folk!

The scene was set.

Moses and Aaron were standing in the doorway of the tent of meeting.
Censer in hand.
Fire in the censer.
Incense laid on it.

Num 16:18
So they each took his own censer and put fire on it, and laid incense on it;
and they stood at the doorway of the tent of meeting, with Moses and Aaron.

Korah and company were standing against the doorway of the tent of meeting.

Num 16:19
Thus Korah assembled all the congregation against them at the doorway of the tent of meeting. And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.

The glory of the LORD appeared to everyone!

Then…

Num 16:20-21
Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

“Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them instantly.”

The LORD tells Moses/Aaron to separate themselves from the congregation, to get out of the way.

The LORD intended to consume all the congregation instantly.

He was not pleased.
He was angry.
He planned to judge immediately.

What did Moses/Aaron do?
As the LORD commanded..separate themselves?

Num 16:22
But they fell on their faces and said,
“O God, God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins,
will You be angry with the entire congregation?”

They fell on their face before the Lord.
They interceded on behalf of the congregation.
The congregation that was rebelling against the LORD.
The congregation that was rebelling against them.

Note how they addressed God.
“God of the spirits of all flesh”.
What a declaration!

The LORD God is God of the spirits of all flesh.
He and He alone.

They then questioned.
Would the LORD hold all the congregation accountable for the sin of one man?

Good question.

The congregation had obviously decide poorly/wrong.

Anytime you decide against the Lord it is wrong.
