“Betrayed, Killed, Arise to Life”

Today’s reading:

Matthew 17:22-23
Mark 9:30-32
Luke 9:43-45

These passages are a good example of why it is important to get the full counsel of the Word of God. Each gives insight into the account.

Jesus and the disciples were passing through Galilee.
Jesus did not want anyone to know.
Apparently He wanted to spend time with the 12.

Jesus was teaching the disciples.
He also was telling them what was about to happen to Him..

• He would be betrayed into the hands of men
• He would be killed
• He would rise from the dead after three days

Jesus told them to “take these words to heart…”.
They were to remember, reflect, understand.

Note how the disciples reacted:

• They were greatly distressed
• They did not understand
• They were afraid to ask Him

Why?

• Its meaning had been concealed from them
• They could not grasped it...in the flesh, in their own understanding

They would later…
The Holy Spirit would reveal…

Do you grasp what the Lord has done for you?
Do you seek first the Kingdom and the righteousness of the Lord and to allow the Lord to do what He desires in your life?
