“We Are Powerless…”

Blessings folk!

King Jehoshaphat continued praying…

2 Ch 20:10-12

“Now behold, the sons of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom You did not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt
(they turned aside from them and did not destroy them),

see how they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out from Your possession which You have given us as an inheritance.

“O our God, will You not judge them?
For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us;
nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”

The King tells the Lord who the enemy is that is coming against them - of course the Lord knew.

Then, this interesting statement “whom You did not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt”.
This is true.
The Lord told them to not invade them.

Now, they were coming against Israel.

Was the King blaming God?
Well, sorta, but no.
The King was acting as if the people had obeyed the Lord in destroying all the people He commanded. They had not.

The King asks if God will not judge the enemy?

The King then declares the truth before God and the people.

  • They were powerless before this great multitude of enemy
  • They did not know what to do

Then, the great declaration of faith!
Our eyes are on You!

Are our eyes upon the Lord?

We are powerless in the flesh.
We are power-filled in the Spirit.

We do not know what to do in the flesh.
We have all knowledge in the Spirit.
