“Reubenites, Gadites, Half-tribe of Manasseh”

Blessings folk!

We have been looking at how we are told in the Word to “love God”.

Here is another account…

Jos 22:1-6

Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh,

and said to them,
“You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you,
and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.

“You have not forsaken your brothers these many days to this day,
but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

“And now the LORD your God has given rest to your brothers, as He spoke to them;
therefore turn now and go to your tents, to the land of your possession,
which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan.

“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.

The Reubenites, Gadites and half-tribe of Manasseh had requested to live in land outside the boundaries initially given to the children of Israel by the Lord.

They were granted the land…if they would fight with all Israel to possess the promised land.

They did.

These verses are the last words from Joshua to them as they prepared to depart to their land.

They had kept all Moses had commanded of them.
They had listened to all that Joshua had commanded.
They had not forsaken their brothers.
They had kept the charge of the commandment of the Lord.

The Lord had now given them rest.

Now…
They could go home.
They could take full possession of their land (their wives/children were already there).
They were to be careful to observe the commandments of the Lord.
They were to love the Lord.
They were to walk in all His ways.
They were to keep His commandments.
They were to hold fast to Him.
They were to serve Him.

They were to do all this with all their heart and soul.

The Lord states this repeatedly.

We are to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

We do so through Jesus Christ.

Do we?
