"Wrangling..."

“Wrangling…”

Blessings Folk!

The Spirit of the Lord through Paul is very practical in instruction and command.

They are preparing Timothy for the soon coming time when Paul will depart.

Read the two-fold instruction.

2 Timothy 2:14
Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

Timothy was to remind folk of these things that Paul was teaching.

Timothy was to also charge people with something.
He was to charge them “in the presence of God.”
A serious matter.

The charge?

Do not wrangle about words.
Oh how the Body of Christ needs to hear and do this.
So many wrangle over words, all the while making no attempt to know the Word.
Many is the professing believer who will staunchly and vigorously defend their stance, while refusing to seek the Word for Truth.
Such debate, argue, defend that which they know not.

Paul tells why to avoid such.
It is useless.
It leads to the ruin of the hearers.

Most “teaching/preaching” that I hear tends to err toward the wrangling of words.

Let us rejoice in the Word.
Let us know the Word.
Let us speak the Truth, thereby wrangling not.
