“Be Subject to OneAnother”

Blessings folk!

Ok, one last look at the passage.
Reread…

Eph 5:18-21

(18) And do not get drunk with wine,
for that is dissipation,
but be filled with the Spirit,

(19) speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;

(20) always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God,
even the Father;

(21) and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

Do not be drunk with wine…nor food!
Be filled with the Spirit
Speak to OneAnother with…
Always give thanks for all things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

Then this last instruction.

Be subject to OneAnother.
Subject?

The word means “to place or to rank under”, “to submit”.

The idea is that we walk humbly before OneAnother.
We walk in humility before OneAnother.

It does not mean that we humiliate OneAnother.

We walk in submission, honor, deference to OneAnother in the fear of Christ.
“Fear” means “reverence”, “respect”, “honor”.

In the same way that we walk before the Lord, we walk before OneAnother.

This makes sense.
Why?

True Believers are the Presence of the Most High God.
God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit resides within us.

How then should would behave toward OneAnother?
