“Look Intently”

Mark 8:22-26

A blind man was brought to Jesus.

I find this particular event fascinating.

Jesus spit on His eyes?

Why does Jesus do this?
On occasion He spits and makes mud/clay.
This time He spits on the man?

We do not know exactly why, but could it be, that He Who spoke creation into existence is recreating the actual organ of the eye? I think so.

What I find interesting here is that there was process involved.

Jesus spits on him.
Jesus lays hands on him.
Jesus then inquires “do you see anything?”

The man could see partially “men like trees walking around”, but the vision was not completely restored.

Did Jesus not “get it right the first time?” LOL
No.

Sometimes healing is a process, even with Jesus.
The same thing happened once with Jesus casting out a demon.

Jesus then laid His hands on the man’s eyes.
Jesus looked intently. What does that mean? Likely that He looked to heaven, to Father, to the Most High, intently with faith. We see Jesus doing this in other places.

Seeing was completely restored.
Clear.

Jesus sent him home, but told him not to enter the village.
Why?
Likely not the time for the Lord to be revealed there.

What is the lesson for us?
Press on in prayer.
Press on in speaking healing.
Look intently upon the Lord and He alone.
