“Bring the Books and Parchments…”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday we saw that Paul was encouraging Timothy to come quickly.
He spoke of how one had abandoned them to this present world.
He spoke of how others had been sent forth to varied areas with the gospel.

2Ti 4:9-12
9 Make every effort to come to me soon;
10 for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Pick up Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.
12 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.

Note the next requests…

2Ti 4:13
When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.

Bring the cloak.
Winter was coming.
Paul needed protection and warmth.
We cannot imagine such...writing a letter that would take weeks to travel/communicate.
Hoping to have a cloak brought to us.

Bring the books, especially the parchments.
The parchments are likely the Word of God.

Even though by his testimony Paul was about to die, He still wanted the Word of God.
He wanted to study.
He wanted his resources to know more of the Lord.
He was press’n on to the end.

Are we?
