Creation, Rebellion, Flood

Blessings Folk!!

Today’s Bible reading consist of pages 15-21 in the “So That’s Why” Bible...Genesis 9-11.

To this point in our reading we have covered the following:

Genesis 1-2: Creation

We have learned that God created, and it was good...very good.

There is “big debate” over the meaning of these chapters.

Here is what I believe the truth is.

God created exactly as He tells us in His Word...six 24-hour days.

I know many sincere believers disagree. They would be wrong...LOL HappyHappy

I know the “scientific” arguments...heard them in college (was a chemistry major).
I know the “theological” arguments...heard them in seminary.
I know the “pop explanations”.

The Word confirms that the Lord spoke into existence ex nihilo - out of nothing. Other portions of the Word have much to say about creation. Job has tremendous insight, as does Peter, the Psalms, etc.

So, God created. The earth is not “billions and billions of years” old. If one does not accurately believe and interpret the first chapters of Genesis, then interpretation of the remainder of the Word will be in error.

God warned us that in the last days the world would mock those of faith due to their belief in the Genesis.

2 Peter 3:1-10
3 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all
things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

KJV
This amazing passage confirms what we have seen in Genesis.

God created.
There was a flood!

Again, many within the Body of Christ do not believe in an all-world encompassing flood.

They would be wrong. LOL HappyHappy
Note that Peter says that they are “willingly ignorant.”

Genesis 6-9 tells us that a flood was released from God to judge man. 2 Peter confirms this.

God judge with a flood.
The next time He will judge the world with fire.

Many say, “well ‘scientists’ say”...be careful as to the scientist unto whom you give heed. There are many scientists that are of the faith and understand the truth.

Listen to them.

All of this relates to Genesis 3 and the fruit thereof, Genesis 4.

Man disobeyed God.
Man decided to ignore the one rule - don’t eat of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil.
Therefore, sin was manifest in the world.
Sin had a physiological impact upon the world. Death, thorns, etc.

Murder came forth - Cain and Abel.

Lastly, don’t ignore the “begats” in the Word. Genesis 5 and 10 provide foundational insight for things yet to come.

So, the question to us today is this.

Do you believe the Word of God?
Do you give more credence to the opinions of man than to God?

In matters of “creation” there can be no true “scientific” opinion. Science is defined by the ability to observe situations and/or create/recreate experiments to validate theories.

This can not occur with “origins.”

This simple question to ask is “were you there?”

Of course, no man was.

Therefore, do you believe God or man?

As for me and my house, we will choose the Lord.
