“Authority”

Today’s reading:

Matthew 21:23-27
Mark 11:27-33
Luke 20:1-8

Authority.

Men always like and want authority.

The chief priests and elders decided to use another approach in attempting to attack Jesus.

They asked “by what authority” do you do these things?

What things?

Teaching.
Healing.
Deliverance.
Etc.

The religious rulers could not dispute the truth of the “things”.

They could only attack the Vehicle and His authority.

Again, Jesus was having nothing to do with the ruse.

He demanded that they answer a question.
If they answered, then He would answer.

You read the account.

They did not answer.
Neither did He.

Our authority does not come from man.
Authority is not…

• “ordination”
• “licensing”
• “credentials”
• “church membership”
• “denominational affiliation”

These are all strategies and devices of man contrived to control.

The authority of the true Believer lies in the Most High God.

Rejoice and rest there.
