“Hypocritical Tithers…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus continues with His declaration of Truth unto the religious rulers.

Matthew 23:23-24
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.
24 You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!

The religious rulers of the day were meticulous as to the religious duties, activities and requirements.

They gave great attention to such.
Jesus said they should have done so, but not at the expense of weightier matters: justice, mercy, faithfulness.

They honored the requirement of the tithe down to the detail of counting out the smallest of herbs and seeds.
Yet they ignored justice, mercy and faithfulness.

They were straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel.

Jesus pronounced “woe” over them for such.

Yes, the same occurs today.

It is amazing what I see on a regular basis that parallels this woe.
Leadership distracted by things that have nothing to do with the Kingdom.
At least the religious rulers of Jesus’ day were seeking to obey the law.
The religious rulers of today are honoring the rules and traditions of man, and doing so for the praise and adoration of man.

May we reject such temptations.
Rather, seek the Kingdom and His righteousness.
