"Forgot the Bread"

“Forgot the Bread”

Blessings folk!

Jesus had just had an encounter with the Religionist.
They demanded a sign
He said no sign would be given.

He then departs.

Read carefully…

 Mar 8:13-21
Leaving them, He again embarked and went away to the other side.

And they had forgotten to take bread,
and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them.

And He was giving orders to them, saying,
“Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

They began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread.

And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart?

“HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVING EARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR?
And do you not remember,

when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They said to Him, “Twelve.”

“When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they said to Him, “Seven.”

And He was saying to them, “Do you not yet understand?”

For today, look at a contextual fact.

The disciples has forgotten to bring bread.
What was their reaction?
We are not told forthrightly, but we can glean from what we see in Mark and Matthew.

They did what is to prevalent in the Body of Christ today.
They were defensive.
They blamed one another.
They were nearly paranoid…especially when Jesus told them to beware the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod.
They thought Jesus was “upset…”
They manifested a hard heart

Mat 16:7
They began to discuss this among themselves, saying,
“He said that because we did not bring any bread.”

Jesus was teaching.
Jesus was seeking to reveal something to them.

What?

Well, the leaven…more on that later.

And, the fact that they did not understand.
Their hearts were hard.

If they understood, then they would not have reacted as they did.
They would not be defensive.
They would not fear.
They would not whisper among themselves.

Based upon what we see in the Body today, we do not understand.

May we understand!
