“…They Had All Had Her…”

“…They Had All Had Her…”

Blessings folk!

Mar 12:17
And Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s,
and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him.

All were amazed at Jesus’ response to the entrapment attempt of the Pharisees and Herodians.

Such wisdom was rare.
Simple.
Sensical.

The conservatives had failed.
Now, the liberals made their attempt to entrap Jesus…

Mar 12:18-23

Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection)
came to Jesus, and began questioning Him, saying,

“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that IF A MAN’S BROTHER DIES and leaves behind a wife AND LEAVES NO CHILD, HIS BROTHER SHOULD MARRY THE WIFE AND RAISE UP CHILDREN TO HIS BROTHER.

“There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no children.

“The second one married her, and died leaving behind no children; and the third likewise;

and so all seven left no children. Last of all the woman died also.

“In the resurrection, when they rise again, which one’s wife will she be?
For all seven had married her.”

Again, we can “hear” the sarcasm and religious spirit dripping from the tongues of the inquirers.

Matthew’s account closes with a classic…”they had all had her”…

Mat 22:28
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

Why do I refer to these Religionists as liberal?
They did not believe there was a resurrection.
They did not believe there is life after this corporeal existence.
Other places show they did not believe in angels, etc.
The modern term “liberal” applies.

Their snarky hypothetical question again shows no true concern on behalf of the woman.
They simply wanted to bring Jesus down.

We will see His response tomorrow…one of the best ever!

For today, know that Religionists will do this.
They will deny the Truth of the Word…resurrection, etc.
They will use the Word to seek to entrap…they quoted the Mosaic law to Jesus.
They will use the Truth to implement their evil/lie.
They will concoct a hypothetical or an argument to bring division and confusion.
They will be inconsistent. Here it is known that they do believe in the resurrection, yet they present a case about the resurrection.
They will seek to entrap.
They will seek to embarrass.
They will seek to be viewed as the “wise” that have the answer.

Many are such that have crept into the church unnoticed.
Jude tells us about them.

Do not be a Religionists.
Repent.
Confess.
Be truly saved.
