Blessings folk!

Paul reminded the Thessalonians that they knew about the times, the epochs, the Day of the Lord.

They had no need of him writing anything about such.

Which immediately makes me wonder what they had been taught!!??

We have seen Paul’s reminder about the Day of the Lord…coming as a thief in the night, people thinking that peace had arrived, etc.

Then Paul brings forth that most powerful of words…”but”…

1 Th 5:4-6
But you, brethren, are not in darkness,
that the day would overtake you like a thief;

for you are all sons of light and sons of day.
We are not of night nor of darkness;

so then let us not sleep as others do,
but let us be alert and sober.

Read that three verse sentence again.

Rejoice!

Look at what we learn about ourselves as “brethren”.

We are not in darkness.
The Day of the Lord will not overtake us as a thief.
We are all sons of light.
We are all sons of day.
We are not of night.
We are not of darkness.
We are not to sleep as others.
We are to be alert.
We are to be sober.

Are we?
