"The Way"

“The Way”

Blessings folk!

The eleven disciples of Jesus were confused.

He had told them He was leaving.
He had told them they knew where He was going.

Thomas responded…

John 14:5
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”

Thomas flatly declared that they did not know where He was going.
That is interesting…

Was Jesus not speaking the truth in telling them they new the way He was going?
(of course not)

Did the disciples not really know?
(they did)

Was Thomas lying/obfuscating?
(no)

The disciples simply had not “put it all together” yet as to all that Jesus had said.
They would soon.
Jesus has stated such.

Thomas wanted to know how they would now “the way”?
Thomas is speaking of the way that Jesus would go.
They were thinking physical, geographical location.
Watch Jesus’ response…

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life;
no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Whoa!
A very familiar passage that has even more understanding now that we see the context in which it was expressed.

Jesus states that He is the way.
“The way” to where?
To Father.

How do we know?
Because Jesus says so…”No one comes to the Father”.
So the journey is to Father.

Jesus was returning to Father.
The disciples could not go at that moment…though they would later.
Jesus was not speaking of a trip on this earth.
Jesus revealed the life-changing Truth that He is…

  • The Way
  • The Truth
  • The Life

Jesus is the Way to Father.
There is no other Way.

Are you in/on The Way?
