"Beating the Air..."

“Beating the Air…”

Blessings folk!

There is a dearth of teaching and preaching of the Word of the Lord.

So much of what passes as “preaching” and “teaching” is no more than a verbal barrage of religious, pious words.
Where is the simple teaching of the Word?
Where is the simple proclamation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus?

We try to be “twice too cute”.
We try to be intelligent, sensitive, attractive.

The Spirit led Paul to speak to this.
He desired to run the race to the end...to run in a way to win.

1Co 9:23-27
I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;
but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

As you speak/teach/preach the Word, do not do so as in beating the air.
Speak the Truth.
Hone in on the Truth.
Do not dance around the Truth.
Grasp the Truth and proclaim it.

Follow the commands of the Lord:

  • run in such a way that you may win
  • exercise self-control in all things
  • run with aim
  • box with aim
  • do not beat at the air
  • discipline yourself/you body
  • do not be disqualified
