“…From the Contentions of My People…”

Blessings folk!!

The Lord had given David victory over his enemies.
The Lord had strengthened him.
The Lord had empowered him.

But, David had other problems.
Not from without.
From within.

Watch what David says…

2 Sa 22:44-46

“You have also delivered me from the contentions of my people;
You have kept me as head of the nations;
A people whom I have not known serve me.

“Foreigners pretend obedience to me;
As soon as they hear, they obey me.

“Foreigners lose heart,
And come trembling out of their fortresses.

David had problems with his own people!
Imagine!!
Reading the biblical account we see some of these problems.

David declares that the Lord delivered him from these contentions.

It was the Lord who placed and kept David as the head of nations.
Note: nations!
Not just Israel.

People that David did not know…the nations…served him.

David knew the truth.

He knew they pretended obedience to him.
He acknowledged their obedience, yet he knew their heart.
He knew they had lost heart.
He knew they trembled before him.
His enemies came out of their fortresses…can also be translated “fastnessess”…
They came in fear…after seeking their gods, etc.

David knew.

He knew that the Lord was his source of deliverance.

Do we?
