“Follower”

Today’s reading:

Matthew 16:24-28
Mark 8:34-9:1

John 12:25; 8:51-52; 21:20-23

At least three interesting things here.

1. What does it mean to be a “follower” of the Lord Jesus?

• deny self
• take up cross...daily
• follow Lord

1. Jesus gives some insight into His “coming again”. Many would have “their eschatology” turned upside down if they paid attention to these type of statements.

• the Son of Man will come
• the Son of Man will come with His Holy angels
• the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father
• the Son of Man will then repay every man according to his deeds
• whoever is ashamed of Jesus and His Words in this adulterous and sinful generation...the Son of Man will be ashamed. Note Son and Word.

1. Some there would not taste death - taste death? - until they saw the Son of Man come into His glory...we will see this later.

Do you deny self daily?
Do you die daily?
Do you take up your cross daily?
Do you follow the Lord, daily?

Are you prepared for His soon coming?
