“David Sent, Arose, Saw”

Blessings folk!

Remember how Saul repented before David?
Saul said that David was correct.
Saul said that he would no longer pursue David.
Right…

Read.
Watch what happens.
Why was Saul doing this?
What was motivating him?
Evil spirit?
Others?

1Sa 26:1-5

Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying,
“Is not David hiding on the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?”

So Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having with him three thousand chosen men of Israel, to search for David in the wilderness of Ziph.

Saul camped in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, beside the road, and David was staying in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness,

David sent out spies, and he knew that Saul was definitely coming.

David then arose and came to the place where Saul had camped. And David saw the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the commander of his army; and Saul was lying in the circle of the camp, and the people were camped around him.

There will always be those who seek to ingratiate themselves to people in power.
Such were the Ziphites.
The informed Saul of David’s location.

The Ziphites inform.
Now Saul “whatcha gonna do?”

Saul could not resist.
Likely due to hubris.
Someone tells Saul where David is.
Saul likely thinks he will look weak if he does nothing.

David saw/heard.
He sent spies out.
It was confirmed.
Saul was coming.

Did David flee?
Did he run in fear?

Nope.
He went to the place where Saul was.

David knew that he was the anointed king in waiting.
David knew…and it had been confirmed repeatedly…that the Lord was with him.

Therefore, he arose to check things out.

He saw where Saul laid…resting apparently…as we will see.
He saw Abner, the commander of the army.
Saul was laying in the midst of the circle of the camp.
People/soldiers were camped around him.
Safe.
Secure.
Uh-huh…

David saw.
What would he do?
We will see.

For today, be bold in the Lord as David was.
Flee not.
Run in the Lord!
