“Laugh”

Blessings folk!

Have you ever doubted the Word of God?
Do actions and deeds reflect doubt, lack of faith…dependency on self?

How about this!
Have you ever laughed at God…at His Word?

Remember, the Lord had just told Abraham that he would have a child through Sarah.
This child would bring forth kings and nations.

Abraham’s reaction?
Read carefully.

Gen 17:17
Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

Did Abraham “laugh in the face of God”?
Did Abraham doubt?

I do not think so.

Here is why.

He fell on his face.
Upon hearing the Word from the Lord of a son through Sarah, he fell on his face.
He worshipped.
He humbled himself before the Lord.

I think his questioning is much like what we see with Mary/Jesus.
These are questions of “how”, not questions of doubt.

Why would Abraham wonder?
Because Abraham and Sarah were both “as good as dead” as to reproduction.

Rom 4:19
Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;

I believe God allowed this so that there would be no doubt that the “child of the Promise” was of God, not of man.

We will see more in Romans 4.

Doubt not!
Live by faith!
Yes, God will do that which we think is impossible.
