“Do Not Hinder”

Blessings folk!

The disciples were whiney, frightened, fearful, worried...whatever...over the fact that someone was using the name of the the Lord to set people free from demons.

Perhaps they were irritated because they had not been able to help the boy earlier.

Looks like the person that was not “one of them” had more faith than they did?

Mar 9:38
John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name,
and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.”

Jesus’ response?

Mar 9:39-40
But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.

“For he who is not against us is for us.

Likely not exactly what the disciples wanted to hear.
They were very much concerned about themselves.

But, Jesus was clear.
Do not hinder the man.
He who is not against us if for us.
He will not speak evil of Me.
Specifically when they perform a miracle in His name.

The man believed.
The man manifested faith.
God honored that faith.

It really is true...it is not “all about us.”
Be careful that we do not have the myopic view that the disciples were revealing.

Do not hinder the Lord.
Do not hinder the Spirit.
