“Kingdom of God”

Blessings folk!

Jesus stood firm when tempted by satan.
Jesus spoke the Word of God.
Angels then ministered to Jesus…food? drink? communication? Likely…

We continue the story from Mark…

Mar 1:14-15

Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee,
preaching the gospel of God,

and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand;
repent and believe in the gospel.”

Much is revealed in these two verses.

Firstly, John was taken into custody.
He was arrested.
Simply stated as fact and used as a time marker by Mark.

After John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee.
Jesus preached the gospel of God

Look at what Jesus said.
What is “the gospel of God”.
This provides understanding for all that Jesus said/did.

He said…

  • the time is fulfilled…
    • time for what?
    • God’s perfect timing
    • time for Messiah
  • the kingdom of God is at hand
  • repent and believe in the gospel

Jesus told “what/when”…the time is fulfilled.
Jesus told “what”…the kingdom of God is at hand.
Jesus told “what to do”…repent and believe in the gospel.

The gospel.
The Good News.
When we speak of the gospel we are usually speaking of the death, burial and resurrection 1 Cor. 15
Jesus, when He spoke of the Gospel, was speaking of the Kingdom of God.
His death, burial resurrection is a part.
But, Jesus spoke of the Kingdom.
The Kingdom of God.
All that is.

It was at hand.
Repent.
Believe.
