“Father of A Multitude of Nations”

Blessings folk!

The Lord spoke to Abram.
Abram fell on his face.
God continued to speak to Abram…

Gen 17:3-5

Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,

“As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you,
And you will be the father of a multitude of nations.

“No longer shall your name be called Abram,
But your name shall be Abraham;
For I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.

God’s covenant was with Abram.
The Lord had not forgot!
The Lord’s timing is perfect.

Now, the Lord is revealing more.

Abram would not just be the father of descendants.
He would be the father of a multitude of nations.
The Lord would make it so.

No longer will Abram be called “Abram”…meaning “exalted father”.
Now he would be named Abraham…meaning “father of a multitude”.

Note the difference in name “Abram” and “Abraham”.
What is it?

“ah”

More precisely “Yah”.

“Yah” is the name of God.

Psa 68:4
Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name YAH,
And rejoice before Him.

Is 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.' ”

Is 26:4
Trust in the LORD forever,
For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.

The Lord placed His name in the middle of Abram’s (and Sarai’s) name.
Abr(ah)am
Sar(ah)

God was in their midst.
God was with them.
The name reflected so.

Cool.

We will someday have a new name.
We will have the new name of the Lord written upon us.

Rev 2:17
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” '

Rev 3:12
“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

In the meanwhile, we rejoice that the Lord is in each true believer.

May we faithfully await the new name…
