“Foolish and Ignorant Speculations”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday we saw that we are to…

• flee youthful lusts
• pursue righteousness
• pursue faith
• pursue love
• pursue peace

I remind us because the next verse begins with “but”...it is connected to the previous.

2 Timothy 2:22-23
22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
23 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.

“But”...we are to refuse…

• foolish speculations
• ignorant speculations

Such passes for “bible study” in many venues.
The foolish thoughts of men.
The ignorant speculations of men.
The “what do you think?” without any foundation of Biblical understanding.

It is rampant within the Body of Christ.

The fruit of foolish and ignorant speculations?
Quarreling.

Well, that explains much.

The Lord is encouraging/exhorting us…

• to know His Word
• to stand on the Truth of His Word
• to reject the foolish/ignorant speculations of man
• to do so in love
• to quarrel not

Immerse yourself in the Word of God.
Watch what He does.
