“I, Myself, Do Establish…”
Blessings folk!
The Lord makes covenant.
The Lord keeps covenant.
We can not understand God if we do not know and accept this truth.
(We see several covenants in the Word - Edenic, Adamic, Noahic, Mosaic, Abrahamic, Davidic, Land, New, Eternal)
Let us look at the close of the Flood account…
Gen 9:8-11
Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
“Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;
and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.
“I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.”
God established this covenant with Noah, his sons and their descendants.
He, Himself.
God initiates
God executes.
Man does nothing.
We are all descendants, therefore, the covenant is with us.
The covenant is also with the living creatures of earth.
The covenant is simple.
God will never destroy the entire earth again by flood.
There will be/are regional floods.
But, entire destruction by water will never occur again.
God makes this covenant promise.
The Lord then provides a sign…as we will see tomorrow…
Rest in the Covenant God Whose Word is faithful.
