“After All These Sayings…”

Blessings folk!

Let’s finish Matthew’s account of Jesus’ answer to the disciples questions.
We will examine other gospel accounts tomorrow…

Jesus had finished the answer.
Watch what He does next.

Matthew 26:1-2
1 When Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 “
You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

Jesus had finished the sayings.
He had answered.
He then told them what was soon to take place.
He told them this several times.
Passover was two days out (a timing element!).
The Son of Man - Jesus Himself - would be delivered up to be crucified.

The balance of the Word reveals that the disciples heard, yet did not want to hear.
They heard yet they did not want to understand what was being said.

Later they would.

But not then.
What kind of sense did this make?

Jesus gave detailed answer to the inquiry of when “these things” would occur and what would be the sign of His coming again and of the end of the age.

Then He tells them that He was about to be “delivered up”...handed over...and killed.

They did not believe such would happen.
We do not fault the disciples.

The question is “do we believe what the Lord has revealed to us?”
