"Watch! Awake!"

“Watch! Awake!”

Blessings folk!

Let us examine the other gospels to hear the Word of the Lord.

Luke 21:34-36
34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
35
For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36
But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Jesus had just given the example of the fig tree...then He says “but”.

A command.
Watch yourselves.
He is speaking to the disciples.
He is speaking to us.

Why do we need to watch ourselves?

  • Lest our hearts be weighed down with dissipation - squandering of resources, energy, money; excess; self-indulgence.
  • Lest our hearts be weighed down with drunkenness
  • Lest our hearts be weighed down with the cares of this life
  • Lest that day...what day? The day of the wrath of satan (Great Tribulation)? The day of rapture/Wrath of the Lord? The next verse tells us…”it” - that day - will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. That is speaking of the Day of the Lord. The Wrath of God.
  • The day of the rapture initiates the Day of the Lord. We do not want to be unprepared.

Another command.
Stay awake at all times.

Difficult times are coming. More difficult than most Believers know.

We are to pray for the strength of the Lord to escape “all these things”.
The things that the Lord has been detailing in His answer.

Escape is possible, but it will be in the strength of the Lord

We will stand before the Son of Man.

Are you ready?
