“God Give, Peoples Serve”

Blessings folk!

Isaac had received his meal.
Now, he was imparting his blessing to Esau…so he thought.
It was Jacob instead.

This is significant.
The imparting of the patriarchal blessing carried weight.
It carried power.

We in the western world do not understand the power of the spoken word.
The scripture makes it clear.

We have a choice.
We can speak blessing, or, we can speak curse.

Again, there is power in the spoken word.

Look at the blessing he spoke…

Genesis 27:28-29

Now may God give you of the dew of heaven,
And of the fatness of the earth,
And an abundance of grain and new wine;

May peoples serve you,
And nations bow down to you;
Be master of your brothers,
And may your mother’s sons bow down to you.
Cursed be those who curse you,
And blessed be those who bless you.”

Isaac spoke a couple of things over Jacob (thinking it was Esau).

May God…

  • give the dew of heaven
  • give the fatness of the earth
  • give abundance of grain and new wine

He was speaking the blessing of rain, abundant of crops.

Then,
May…
  • peoples serve you
  • nations bow down to you
  • you be master of your brothers
  • your mother’s sons bow down to you

Those who cursed him would be cursed.
Those who blessed him would be blessed.

This all occurred.
Abundance came forth in Jacob’s life.
His family bowed before him.

Speak forth the blessing of the Lord upon OneAnother.
Deceive not.
