“Filled With the Holy Spirit”

Blessings folk!

Mary believed.
Mary conceived.

What did she do next?

Luke 1:39-41

Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah,

and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

“At this time…”
What time?
Apparently after her encounter with Gabriel.

We are not told why Mary went.
We are told she did so in a hurry.

Likely it was to visit Elizabeth and rejoice in the news of Elizabeth’s upcoming child.
Remember, Elizabeth had told no one.
Mary now knew.

So, Mary, a young maiden, traveled.
Would she have told her family?
Certainly.
Would she have told her fiancé?
Yes.

She goes.
She arrives to a city in Judah.
She enters the house of Zacharias and greets Elizabeth.

A prophecy fulfilling moment.

Luke 1:15

…and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.

The baby, John, lept…tells us some things about life in the womb.
Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
So was John.

As we will see, both Elizabeth and Mary break forth in praise to the Most High.

May we do likewise.
Rejoicing in the Lord.
Trusting Him as we walk through each breath of life.
Resting in His peace wherever we are in each moment.
