“White-Washed Tombs”

Blessings folk!

We press on in the Words of the Lord to the hypocrites - the religious rulers...the scribes and Pharisees.

These are direct, tough Words.
The Lord “pulled no punches” in declaring the Truth related to what they were doing.
We need to give close heed to the Words.

Matthew 23:27-28
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
28 So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Outwardly these religious rulers appeared beautiful.
They appeared Righteous.
They looked good.
But, on the inside...where “it counts”...they were full of unrighteousness, they were full of lawlessness.
In describing them as “whitewashed tombs...full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness” Jesus cut to the issue.
Their hypocritical religious activities were for naught.
The people knew this.
The leaders knew this.
God knew.

Let us not be white-washed sepulchres.
Rather, let us be brilliant beacons of hope shining the Light of the Most High.
