“Tend”

Blessings Folk!

Today’s reading:

John 21:1-20

The Lord restores Peter.
Peter had denied the Lord three times.
The Lord asks Peter three times “do you love me?”

A study of the words used for “love” is useful, yet beyond the scope of our time together.
Basically, Jesus was asking “do you love me above all else”?
Peter was replying, “yes, Lord, I’m your buddy”.

Note the instructions the Lord gave Peter.
Jesus had already told Peter (Luke 22) that he would deny Him and that when he was restored he was to strengthen his brothers..
Jesus tells him:
  • tend My lambs
  • shepherd My sheep
  • tend My sheep
  • follow Me

This is what the Lord calls us unto.

Jesus also gave Peter insight into the future.
Peter knew how he would die.
We rarely consider the phrase “by what kind of death he would glorify God.”

By what kind of death will you glorify God?
Will you be faithful?
Will you be steadfast, immovable in the Lord?
Tend then.
